Farm Road
Our Work
Smithton Earthmoving Solutions recently undertook an extensive project, focused on rejuvenating a large rural farm road spanning 2 kilometers. Such projects are paramount for facilitating smooth transportation and ensuring the longevity of the infrastructure, especially in agricultural regions where roads are the lifelines.
The primary task was grading the farm road. Over time, roads, especially those in rural areas, can become rutted, uneven, and eroded due to weather and heavy farm machinery. Smithton's team employed their state-of-the-art machinery to meticulously grade the entire 2km stretch. This ensured that the road's surface was not only smooth but also resistant to future wear and tear. The grading was done with utmost precision, ensuring that the road maintained a gentle slope for water runoff.
However, grading alone would not suffice for the long-term durability of the road. Given the length of the road and the area's agricultural nature, a proper drainage system was imperative. Drainage systems in such settings play a two-fold role: they prevent water logging and erosion, and they channel water efficiently, ensuring it doesn't flood adjacent farmlands. Smithton’s expertise in drainage was evident as they redesigned and rebuilt the entire drainage system along the 2km stretch. Their new design took into consideration the region's rainfall patterns, potential high water volume areas, and the need to minimize road surface water.
By the end of the project, the farm road was not only smoother and more accessible but was also equipped to handle heavy rainfall and water runoff efficiently, ensuring its usability and structural integrity for years to come. This project stands as a testament to Smithton Earthmoving Solutions' commitment to quality and their deep understanding of the unique challenges presented by rural terrains.
